1.- The Beginning

Everything started on February 18, 1978 on the streets of Honolulu Hawaii where 15 men were part of the first Ironman Triathlon. Just before the race started, these 15 competitors received each three sheets of paper where they could find the rules and the description of the route. Handwritten on the last page it said: “Swim 2.4 miles! Bike 112 miles! Run 26.2 miles! Brag for the rest of your life".

2.- The Ironman’s dream: To be a Finisher

It’s estimated that more than 25,000 people will compete in an IRONMAN event this year.  This number is rapidly  increasing and more and more competitors from all over the globe are becoming part of these competitions.

3.- The 1%, a small detail can make the difference

"Today is my day; this is going to be the race." After several years competing in triathlon and just a year after the debut in my first Ironman in New Zealand in 1998, dreaming of someday finish this distance among the top three in my age category.

4.- Training Cozumel, Qroo., Monday, October 12, 2009.

We are a team of 15 triathletes representing Quintana Roo, 11 from Cancun and 4 from Cozumel; we are the host Iron team “l'Aak” (The Iron brothers). Everyone is going to compete in the Cozumel’s Ironman.

5.- The day of competition, is a day to enjoy, it’s the time when you
reap what you sow

The first important competition of the year finally arrived. Now it’s time to put in practice all the tears, sweat and blood of days, weeks and months of training. The physical condition that you gained so far will reap good results in this first part of the season.
